Our History
Apex Friendship High School opened its doors August 24th of 2015, but its history started way before that. Only one year after the Civil War, slaves who had been emancipated established a community where they could meet, hold religious services, and live peacefully among the white merchants and farmers. A short time later, Native Americans also settled in this area, creating a diverse community. This unique community, where different groups of people worked together, was named Friendship. Today, Apex Friendship High School stands in this historic settlement. Upon the start of the school, it has been recognized that the students had no way of receiving news. Thus, The Patriot Press was created. Established in 2016, The Patriot Press is working its way into the school, and has successfully created its first newspaper issue. The Patriot Press newspaper can be distributed further to the school, faculty, and community.
